Ayurvedic Perspective on the Mind: Understanding the Qualities of Sattva (cognitive energy), Rajas (kinetic energy) and Tamas (inertia) for Optimal Mental Health

In order to become balanced, we need to learn about the nature of our mind and how it functions.  Understanding both the positive and negative attributes of the mind’s qualities can help us in making changes thru diet, dress, emotions and relationships. By focusing on self-assessment, we can get to a root cause of a problem by learning how to identify a samskara (deep seated memory) that can affect our present behavior in unhealthy ways. We will determine our mind type and learn practices to maintain a natural state of peacefulness. When we learn about ourselves, we will know about everything else.

Examining Pitta Dosha: Finding Simplicity in Summer

Saturday 6/16/18, 1-3:30 at Yoga East. $40

Shifting into summer can be effortless when one understands the qualities of the season, our predominant nature and how we relate to internal and external stimulus. We examine nature’s gifts through seasonal change and apply the principles for mental and physical stability. Asana practice will be focused on cooling the mind and restoring calm in the body.

The Seacoast Ayurveda Network (SAN) is a group of people passionate in their quest for knowledge and sharing of Ayurveda.  Ayurveda is the 5000 year old Vedic healing system, viewed as both an art and science based on universal laws and rhythms of nature and how those apply to our own unique constitutions. The goal is ease and well-being in body, mind and spirit and to utilize the wisdom of self awareness and knowledge to prevent dis-ease.

The Seacoast Ayurveda Network (SAN) strives to provide authentic Ayurvedic education and resources to the seacoast community on alternative methods for living a healthy and responsible life through Ayurvedic workshops, consultations, bodywork treatments and general support.

SAN is excited to provide regular workshops at Yoga East. There is no better way to immerse yourself in an Ayurvedic lifestyle than by practicing svadhyaya, or self study. Monthly learning opportunities at Yoga East are a great way to foster your svadhyada practice, partake in discussion, get support and provide new insight and direction into your Ayurvedic journey.

Betty presents regular gatherings and can come to your studio and share the wisdom of Ayurveda.
